Sheaden’s Senior Session

Y’all! I had so much fun on Sunday taking Sheaden’s pictures. We had the best time, laughed a lot, and got A LOT of pictures in. Editing was terrible only because I couldn’t choose my favorites. I’m so glad we hiked all the way down to the bottom of Maymont to get pictures at the waterfall and the pond. It was a tough trek back up those steps, but it was worth it! I’m so excited to share pictures from the day of this gorgeous senior, with a few pictures sprinkled in with her mom and her sweet boyfriend.

Madelyn’s Senior Session | Maymont Park + Libby Hill

Before we get to Madelyn’s session, let me tell y’all — I love her whole family! I worked with her mom for three years, got to know Madelyn and her sisters very well. I photographed her youngest sister, Sam’s, SENIOR SESSION last August. And so when they asked me to take Madelyn’s college senior pictures I jumped at the chance because hanging out with these chicks makes me feel 100% cooler than I am!

We took these pictures back in May, right before her graduation from ODU. And in July she left for an awesome job in Florida! I know she’s missing home and her family but also soaking in the sun (I know I would be!) in her new place.

Madelyn’s best friend, Kim, was the other half of her college cap idea!

Mercy & Elliotte’s Fall Engagement Session

Hi friends! I’m so excited to share the latest engagement session with y’all because, in the midst of all this cold and frigid weather, we managed to pick the perfect sunny 60-degree day in late November! What are the odds? It was too perfect of a day and the park trails were fun to walk AND I even found an RVA rock! The first one I’ve ever found… and now I can’t remember what I did with it. I’m pretty sure it’s in my camera bag. Haha!

I had so much fun getting to know Mercy and Elliotte. They were so go-with-the-flow and didn’t need much prompting to just be cute! I can’t wait for their wedding next October! As I went through the pictures, I had a hard time choosing my favorite and ended up admitting to myself I loved them all. It was so hard narrowing down which ones I wanted to blog, so here’s a whole bunch to enjoy!

Gallmeyer Pumpkin Patch | Mini-Sessions

Hey friends! Last weekend my aunt asked me to do some mini sessions with some of her clients and I have to say for a very muddy day, these turned out pretty good. It was a beautiful day (I’m talking, perfect weather — not too hot, with a nice breeze) and the blue sky and the pumpkins! I loved it. We planned out 30-minute sessions, but I don’t think any of the families actually used up their whole time. I think by the end of the day I was only with each one for ten to fifteen minutes before they said “thank you” and moved on to search for the biggest pumpkin in the patch. But in that time frame, I managed to get some cute pictures and without further ado…

Kara & Sahied | Willey’s Christmas Trees Sweetheart Session

I’m so excited to share Kara and Sahied’s sweetheart session today! When we were talking about doing a session for them, I mentioned a Christmas Tree farm and Kara completely ran with it! I’d never shot at one before and Willey’s was probably the best place ever. We found a cool spot in the back, out of everyone’s way, and the employees were so sweet to us and completely let us have free reign! We did head out after we got all of our pictures in and took a few at Short Pump Town Center, but the photos at the tree farm are my absolute favorite. Kara even brought stockings with a “K” and an “S” on them to hang on the tree for decoration. The whole session was pretty magical, and now I’m itching to do another one!

Dorey Park Family Session

I’m so happy to share this post because I’ve known Caitlyn since high school. And when she said she wanted a session for her and her kids, I had to say yes! Cydney and Dalton are precious and probably the most outgoing and loveable kids ever, and Caitlyn’s older step-daughters are sweet and gorgeous! Dorey Park was so pretty the morning of the shoot and it doesn’t look like it was that cold, but believe me, it was freezing! Everyone was good sports about it, and we made it through with some awesome shots!

Megan + Scott’s Maymont Maternity Shoot

Happy Tuesday everyone (And first day of August! Wow! Are we here already?) You may have seen a post on my old blog in May where my coworkers and I held a GENDER REVEAL for Meg + Scott on their back porch. It was an impromptu little party, with balloons and poppers and cute baby decorations. And spoiler alert if you haven’t read the post; it’s a girl!

As you probably guessed, Meg and I work together and since meeting her we’ve become fast friends. She’s unfailingly kind and sweet, so easy to talk to and get along with, and I explicitly remember talking about babies with her when our friend and coworker, Allie, was pregnant with her second son. Meg would say she had baby fever and wanted to start a family soon. And then I remember when she told me she was pregnant. I thought I was going to cry! Actually, I did tear up a bit–I was so incredibly happy for her! And when we started talking about babies more and more, the subject of a maternity shoot came up and then it became real, and we picked a time and place and I’m so so so excited I finally get to share these pictures with you. It’s been so hard picking my favorites because I honestly love them all and wanted to post all of them! As CAROLINE KALENTZOS of POSH PR says, “Boss Lady Decision Fatigue” is real and it is strong.

Despite the July heat (and when I say heat, I mean heat + humidity! It was so humid during the shoot, and it even rained on us at the end, but THANKFULLY it waited until we were just about wrapping up), we got through shooting pretty painlessly. And it felt so good to shoot at Maymont again–it’s been a while since I’ve been there just because when I was first starting out as a photographer, that was my go-to place, and I’ve been trying not to use it as a “crutch” so to speak. But when Meg and I were discussing places, with her and her husband having only lived in Richmond for about a year, I knew I had to take them to Maymont and I’m so glad I did!

Can we all just “awww” at the way he looks at her?

And we had to close out the shoot with a picture with Meg’s niece and nephew!
